Speedy Tuesday – OMEGA Speedmaster Pro Racing Robert-Jan From Fratellowatches has a great article on new and old variants of the Speedmaster Professional "Racing" series, starting with the original 145.012 Cal 321 version and going through to the 2013 Baselworld Released Speedmaster Pro Racing: Well worth a read!
Hmm.. I think I'm underwhelmed by this. It's difficult to say as I'm really impressed by the new 930x models. I know I'm obsessed by my Speedy M2M, but at least that's different (it certainly gets a reaction from people either for better or worse).... With no changes to the hands or subdials this frankly looks just like yet another variant of the 40th Anniversary Apollo watch.
I know what you mean, its not a bad watch by any means, its just that coming on the heels of the Darkside and 1957 Cal 9300 it feels like its almost cake filling, to make up numbers and that those new Speedmasters are the main act. But what an awesome main act they do make
Yes this just feels lazy.. a lazy racing homage compared to the new 1957 and the FOIS. And they've already got a complete modern reinterpretation with the coaxial racings.
Maybe this is a new 2013 version of Omega's meaning of " RACING" ! But I'd prefer a 100% similar version of the 1960's Racing dial....Now that's a really sweet candy
The racing model has a nice story to it.. it has very little to do with racing, but everything with a denial of a comic's publisher. I did a write-up yesterday for Speedy Tuesday on my blog, you can read it here : http://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-true-story-about-the-new-speedmaster-racing/
If this is 'Tintin' Explorers on The Moon limited edition, there would be huge attention to this. I am also a big fan of Tintin.
Yes I know it's a regular production model....but at the price my AD is giving me....I can use it as a daily banger !
