I recently inherited a Speedmaster Professional 145.022-68ST in excellent condition from my grandfather. I've done some reading, and it seems like the watch has all of the features of the transitional model except the DO90 bezel. It has the metal logo, the engraved dial, and the long hour indices. Were any watches of this model made with the DN90 bezel, or does this mean it was replaced? And how much would you estimate it is worth (not that I'm looking to sell it)? Thanks!
Yes this reference should certainly have a DoN bezel so a DNN is a replacement. The website above is an excellent resource for learning the variations between the numerous vintage Speedmaster references and has an up to date price chart.
I think the bezel and the bracelet were replaced sometime after 1990. Does anyone know what one of these is worth without the original bezel?
Hands and bezel replaced but nice family heirloom regardless. Read this on pricing, as it speaks to situations where a DON is missing and is “head only” so bracelet replacement is made irrelevant for the sake of these numbers: http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/ Again, hands being replaced will affect value further.
Great watch. Get it serviced by someone very good with vintage Omegas (spend some time doing research on who is reputable)
I tried selling one here. 2 weeks ago. With don bezel. All correct parts. Hands were relumed. Case a bit polished. It struggled at 5000 usd.
