·Hello everyone, I'm a new member here, but have been following for a while. I have small collection of vintage watches, but have always wanted to add a Speedmaster to my collection.
I would value your opinion on the following question.....and I know there is no right or wrong answer and there are many variables, but nevertheless, I'd like to collect some views to help with my purchase decision.
My budget is around the $10k USD mark, and I'm torn between which of the following two 'categories' of Speedmaster to buy.
1) Pre-Moon, or more likely a 145.022-68 or 69 Transitional model
Condition good to very good, with original stepped dial, DON Bezel, original bracelet and mostly intact loom
No box or papers, but it does have a Omega Archive Extract
I really love the stepped dial from these pre-1975 models
2) 20th Anniversary edition (345.0022.100)
very good original condition
Full set including all the 20th Anniversary extras
Obviously no stepped dial, but still a beautiful looking Speedmaster
I'd be wearing one of these watches, but only for special occasions, say once a month.
I would not be buying Speedmaster as an investment, but rather as something to just enjoy. However, one of the easier ways of comparing these two watches would be to ask the question....
If both of these watches cost (approx.) $10k USD, what might each be worth 10 years from now?
