I don't see the Moonphase (Two Counters) getting a lot of love and to be its the probably the most underrated Speedy.

Anyone have one? What do you think?

I had the SS black dial one on bracelet. I liked it but the date was all but useless as it’s near impossible to read. It also wore pretty big on me. A beautiful watch but I ended up moving it on. I’ve learned I am much happier with 39-42mm watches.

Thread drift, OP is talking about the automatic, two dial watch with moon phase dial, not the 1866 model or the auto one with no moon dial.

Ah, okay. I just search and found the below Speedy on eBay. I did not realize those existed. Way too big for me at 44mm but the detail on the moon is really cool.

My mistake!

That would be my point, too, but I guess they want to differentiate it by that to the standard Moonwatch

I had a blue ceramic version a few years ago, the 44 mm size was fine but the thickness was an issue. And the date dial at 9 o'clock is hard to read at a glance. And I got tired of the blue ceramic case which tended to be chalky looking in sunlight. Their grey and black ceramic cases work better, imo.

The Apollo 8, which is the same case size, fits much better because of the manual movement resulting in a thinner case.

I haven't seen the Moonphase (Two Counters) in person, but it sounds like a hidden gem!

I really like the blue side of the moon with the aventurine dial. Well, I really like the dial. The case is not for me.

It looks fake some how after seeing 9456328 pictures of the moonwatch.

Anyone use their moon phase for something or is it just a cool complication.

I've been using the moonphase speedy for over a year as a daily watch and can say it is a great timepiece but probably not for everyone. While I love it, I understand why it is not as popular as the basic speedy models. There is no way to deny it is large and thick by all means, and quite heavy on bracelet.

Figuring out the date takes more time than it should, especially as the even numbers are not shown on the dial, and the red 'croissant' covers the neighboring numbers, making it even more difficult to get the date. As regards the precision, mine should run at +1.7 s/day according to the METAS results but effectively runs at -0.5 s/day according to a monthly measurement.

As regards the practical usage of the moon phase complication, I don't think it is meant to provide quantitative info but I like it very much. As the disk rotates throughout the month, the overall impression of the dial changes. And the dial never looks the same each day so it is less boring than other dials. On the fun side, you can also use it to keep track of the menstrual cycle of your partner because I haven't found any other real-world practical use for this complication 😀

If I had one, I'd use it to plan which days I want to drag out my telescope for star gazing. But that's a pretty niche and nerdy thing to do.

Never even set the moonphase on mine but it is lovely to look at - makes the dial really unique.

It is? Wish I had a telescope! Starnge how something so grand as space can be considered nerdy.

I have seen the sky in total darkness in the middle of the atlantic, its a fantastic sight.
