    Hi All,

Loving the Speedmaster Mkiii that I picked up over the summer, but struggling to find a good fit with the bracelet.

Just wondering if they ever came with other styles of strap? Or would a NATO or Velcro fit/work?

    Cheers

    Chris

    Sorry, blackout.
This thread is useless without pics.
let's see your watch as it is now, that'll give me an idea of something that may suit.

    Hey Jim,

It's a black faced MKiii Speedmaster... really just interested to know if it ever came with anything other than a bracelet from the factory.

    Cheers

I think the bracelet was standard fit. And for a good reason, the original bracelet extends on either side from the bracelet trough edges, thus giving visible width to the bracelet and providing a nice visual flow from the bracelet to the case.

Using a strap or other bracelet that would be limited in width by the trough underneath the case would not give you the integrated look the designers intended.

My suggestion would be to try a mesh bracelet (economy style) to see if that suits.

I wear mine on a Croc leather, is a comfortable fit and it looks good to me too. I don't see an issue with regards to an "integrated look", IMO that is. Unfortunately my picture does not tell the full story...

Edit: oops! OP was talking MKIII....that would be another story that I can't offer any insights..... :D

... as long as you see it from the right angle ...

if you look at it from the non-right angle (basically every other ) ... it just looks ::puke::

believe me - there is a reason why all the mkIII "for sale" ads show the watch straight on

what was omega thinking???? hey, we could build a watch with space for people to keep their dentures overnight?

I hope the designer of that watch has now to work for invicta and hublot ...::rimshot::

I disagree, I think the Mark III is pretty cool and attractive in its own way, although right up there with the Ploprof as the most "out there" case design Omega ever rolled out. Reminds me of a steel traffic cone.

Actually reminds me of the command module of the Apollo missions. That is one watch that would be difficult to fit under the shirt cuffs though .....

I see that you are not from 70s generation who appreciate funky life ....

If any chance you had those mark3 in your hand and want to sell it cheap... I will take them all ;)

Each to their own, I'm sure you own some watches I don't like, but hey, you can't please everyone... you can not turn up on a thread and act like an arsehat though. ;-)

And as others have said, this is pure late 1960's/1970's industrial design.

As for fit, it wears very nicely, it is a chunky watch, it doesn't fit under tight shirt sleeves, but I roll my sleeves up anyway (and take my watch off to work).

I bought mine on the original bracelet too but wanted to try something else. So I went with Abel's amazing corfam-like leather strap, which is a, very close to the original Omega corfam and b, fairly priced and available in many sizes. You can find his stuff here
