    Nice.

If it didn't come with a receipt for a recent service, it's likely overdue.

Good for you, the prices of these have been steadily increasing since Hodinkee announced their limited edition.

And honestly, I think this looks way better than the Hodinkee tribute.

Hideous. Sorry, not wanting to be a dick, but that watch sucks. If it looked exactly the same but said Fossil on it, no one would be in on it and everyone would be slamming it as (like I said) hideous. The power of hype is unreal. If you actually like the way it looks, that's all that matters and anyone's opinion, including mine, is irrelevant. But I just don't see any appeal in that watch whatsoever.

Congrats! I have a friend who owns one of these and it's a very cool watch in the metal. Wear it in good health

Yeah, but it’s a pastiche, and with reduced functionality to boot.

    Very nice, congrats!!

I’ve always liked this reference and last week managed to buy one myself as well:

You really have to see it in person. The dial has an almost sunburst effect and the tritium on the numbers really pops. It's a very unique piece, but yeah not for everyone.

He obviously likes the watch or he wouldn’t have posted it. So by that rationale(your rationale), it would seem your opinion is irrelevant. Why post?

I’m curious why if you don’t see any appeal in this watch, why waste your time bashing it on this specific thread?

The OP just bought it and obviously likes it. He wasn’t asking opinions. Just wanted to share his new watch, as happens all the time. Sure he is open to criticism, but why.

Did you feel better after posting? If you did, I guess there is some perverse justification.

Otherwise, why try and make a stranger feel bad about buying a new watch that he obviously likes?

Just my $.02. Just as “irrelevant” as yours:thumbsup:

I think it will turn out to be smart purchase. Say what you want about Hodinkee, but these watches have now become desirable.

I agree. I actually love this watch. It appeals to the 80s kid in me and it’s super functional. Love everything about it.

It is funny how when someone says “Not wanting to sound like a ....” or “I’m not a ...” but,...Whatever follows the “but” is about to be the best example of them being what they claim they aren’t.

To use his word “dick”, whatever comes after “but” is going to be the most “dick” thing someone could say.

I cannot remember the comedian who said it, but to loosely quote them. “When someone says I’m not a racist, but... Get ready because they are about to say the most racist shit ever” It’s so true.

I bought myself this watch too in July this year, and love wearing it, yes it is small, but suits my smaller wrists perfect. The one thing I don't like about it, is that when I am on vacation, I don't wear this watch, and put on a Seiko, purely because I don't want to loose the MK40, or attract the wrong attention, but through out my trip, i am thinking that I can't wait to put the mk40 back on, when i get back....it takes me a few days, as I have to set the time and date which is a little long winded...and then I don't like to stop wearing the MK40. So OP, enjoy this delightful unusual watch, it is a beauty.

It is a marmite watch alright. I looked at getting one about 20 years ago and a pal talked me out of it saying it looked like something Swatch would release when they had been playing with crayons. I still regret listening to him ( I bought a 2255 instead by the way) as I like it and I get the Flightmaster influences but in a much more wearable form factor than those 1970s boat anchors.

I really don't get the Hodinkee 'version' though, take an already aesthetically challenging design and remove all the reason for the colour coding in the first place by losing the functionality, leaving just the questionable design. It makes very little sense to me.

Note there are versions with both tritium and SL lume out there as these were current doing the 1997-8 changeover, both are shown in this thread, the OP watch uses SL, the other tritium.
