I just bought a speedmaster mk40 and noticed that when i turn the watch i hear a rotating mechanism inside the watch. Is this movement normal for the automatic calibre? Service history is unknown. Thanx
For that watch it is perfectly normal. The movement is based on the Valjoux 7751. The rotor only winds the watch when moving in one direction, and if it moves in the opposite direction, the rotor has a large enough moment of inertia it can move freely and can sometimes spin for several seconds and make the noise you hear. If it really gets going, you can even feel it wobble. Google "Valjoux wobble"

I got this watch last week. Included the original bracelet. It has a nice creamy orange color on the numerals.
Very nice! I love the look of the dial and the complications on this reference. Yours appears to be in great shape. Congrats again, wear it in good health
Simple. In a dark room hit it with a flashlight for 10 seconds. If it glows brightly for more then a minute it's not tritium. Old tritium will glow brightly for less then 5 seconds then faintly glow for up to a minute.
