I recently sold my rolex batman and thought I would buy a watch that I owned in the past. I had an original mk ii and the 2014 edition. I thought I'd go with the racing dial this time. It arrived tonight and very happy. Its a great looking watch and well worth the money. I went with the re-release as did want it waterproof. An added bonus is the cat has decided the box it came in is a good bed lol

I had it and only sold it because of the thickness.
Looking forward to a new thinner update from Omega.
Wear it in good health.

Funny timing. I’ve been trying to soak up as much as I can learn about the originals. I’m pretty keen to find one some day. This reissued version looks really great!

Cats will turn any new box into their newest bed. Great post. Thanks for sharing 😀

I have mine since 1973, bought by my future/current wife as a wedding present 48 years ago. Overhauled this year by Nesbits in Seattle, still has the original dial, hands, now well aged and faded. Crystal is from a previous service ca. 1980. Now on a Genteel Saffiano navy blue/orange stitching goat strap.

Congratulations - IMO the MKII is cooler than a 'Batman' especially with that dial. You made a good choice, as did your cat.

The Mark II re-issue really is a stunning watch. The tachymeter lume is superb, and the watch is just so much fun to wear.

Is the reissue that much higher than the original?. Have owned a few vintage mkii over the years, while chunky they have "wrist presence" and are not as thick as some....

Let's hope for a re-reissue thinner hand wound movement.

I thought I was being unreasonable but had the same thought. A thinner re-issue that is hand wound, no date window would be ideal.

That would be amazing, don't see it likely as I'm not sure there is too much demand for the MK2(I was surprised when they did this reissue tbh) but who knows.

I have an original MK2 and tried on a reissue not long after they released with racing dial. Actually had no issues with the size or weight but was unsure if I would learn to accept the date window. I probably would have over time but chose not to risk it. Same dimensions as original, no date and manual wind it would have been done deal!

Yes, I loved my re-issue as well. The craftsmanship is really nice. The tachymeter, hands, and orange hue that reflects along the dial were exceptional details. I just couldn't get excited about the date window and would have also preferred a matte face.
