Hi Can someone tell me if the lume has been removed from this dial - I'm not sure from the picture. Thanks nick
Yes looks completely removed at first sight, but someone more knowledgeable will chime in.The whitish surface does not looks so flat though, so recent SLN might have been applied
The whitish surface does not look granular llike old tritium paste but very smooth with a little volume. I would guess relumed with superluminova. Easy way to tell : Does the dial glow in the dark after exposing it a few minutes to direct sunlight ? And how long does it glow
I clicked on the photos. They actually magnify very well. There is no Lume on this dial, I'm afraid, in these pics.
Does appear that the original lume has been removed. You would see some rasied material. Definitely no lume.
Thanks for all your replies guys, the lume was all gone. I bought the dial to replace a damaged dial on my 69 pre moon Speedmaster, but rather than look for a replacement dial with the printed logo, I looked around for one with an applied logo, to get the look of the transitional (but without the extra expense. I have had the dial relumed, I know this will horrify a few of the purists, but here are the results, I know its not to everyones taste, but I am delighted with the results. Cheers Nick Pics with the original damaged dial and with the dial from the posts above, with the relume and fitted to the watch
It was done by James Hyman, great guy and he turned it around really quickly. Turned out much better than I hoped
I'm not sure what he used to be honest - but I had a choice of glow or non glow, so I went for the glow
Ah! you had me worried there The dial that is now on the watch, is the one in the first couple of posts in this thread - pre lume.
