If you were offered the gift of a Speedmaster LE of your choice, which one would you choose, and why?

Disclaimer - I'm not offering to buy anyone a watch, just curious. :p

For the sake of argument, are we discounting the usual suspects? I.e. gold BA145.022, the original Apollo-Soyuz, the super-limited 90s skeletons etc and sticking to the modern format of ~1969+ models?

    Of the two I've owned (XI-45 and XI-35) I prefer the XI-45.

As for others that I have not yet owned - I saw the Gemini IV at the Christies auction for a hot minute, and while it didn't call out to me, I'd like to own one at least for a while.
I've never seen the Speedyorite in person, but also suppose I'd like to own one for at least a little while, to get a feel for what it's about.

Speedmaster 125 all the way! Not a hard one to find, but a really innovative and distinctive Speedmaster nonetheless.

I will exclude all the "exceptional" pieces like the skeletonized, or the unobtainium pieces like the 1975 Soyuz.... of the LE pieces that are available with reasonable effort, my top three would be:

    1. Speedyorite
    2. 45th Anniv Apollo XI
    3. Blue Dial Gemini

Gemini IV is on my "to do" list.

It's firmly in the "stuff I like" category.

What, no love for the BM LE:( Desirable, very limited, classic styling, 321 movement. Oh sorry, I see you have excluded exceptional pieces:D

I think I tends to be a"what should I try to go and buy" thread though... I'm just interested to see how tastes vary... Or if there's a distinctive pattern to what people would like to own.

The Gold models, and the skeleton do call to me, but I'm not sure if like them all that much if I had them.

    Taste/desire is an odd thing.

I'm beginning to think I'm somewhat perverse insofar as the moonwatch line just doesn't sing to me. The Teutonic variants are where my interest lies. Rarity and funds mean I'll be unlikely to have them any time in the forseeable future, but these two would be on my list

I think I would go for the Speediorite. So I did. But if I were to get another one I think it'd be the Gemini IV as I seem to be a sucker for a blue dial.

Best to go to GTG to see what others have. Not only do you meet cool people you get to see some awesome collections.

Only real problem after is you end up adding a bunch more watches to your wish list. Enablers unite!
