Speedmaster Ed White - what‘s wrong?

I found an Ed White Speedmaster on CH24 and its case strikes me as kind of suspicious. I get a kind of too good to be true feeling. The finish has obviously been reapplied but the edges look really sharp for a Pre-Professinal and I feel like there would be a big premium on that. At first I thought that they swapped the original case with a case of a modern re-edition like the FOIS but the cases don‘t look the same. Does this strike somebody else as weird as well or is it just me?

Are you refering to the case only or the watch in general?

The case. Obviously crown and bezel have been replaced (don‘t know about the pushers) but that‘s standard. I have never seen such a case though.

“Caiber completely revised”. That could mean either the movement has been replaced. Give the serial is 24xx, it’s out of range for a 105-63 that it is referenced as.

it’s possible it could be mislabeled as a 105-65.

My vote is there is nothing original about that lume either.
Case is either a FOIS case, a NOS 2998 case, or has had the 'Rolex' treatment.

The case has been refinished. It is a good job, possibly by Omega. If you look at the case back the wear is inconsistent with the case.

Just looks like a terribly re-cut / refinished case to me. Until relatively recently Omega and even good service places would do a giant-chamfer job with these lugs if you let them. It's like Eugene says it has had the 'Rolex' treatment 😁

Case has obviously been re-cut - to my understanding a reference 105.003-63 should not have any chamfer

There are a number of people that can refinish cases to look like that.

What about that watch appears to be "too good to be true"?

(by that I mean what on earth remotely looks right/ correct about that watch???)

Bezel is going to cost a bit to match from the one picture above.

There's nothing really wrong with this watch. It is simply a completely restored/refreshed piece with a repolished case, relumed dial & hands, & newer crown, pushers & bezel.

You forgot to mention the wrong price...

Well, the price is objective.
What might be a wrong price for one, might be a right price for another...

The cost might even be subjective.
