Hi guys, I have this dial that my wm says he can't fit to my 861 because it's a 321 dial, but now someone told me it's a 861 dial. Who is right? Edit: reference number
He probably means a 321 dial. It does look very much like an 80's 861 dial but maybe it's a late service dial for the 321. Might be able to tell from a rear shot.
The feet on the back of the dial are longer on the 321 movement than they are on the 861 - as I understand it. That may give a better clue. Certainly looks like an 861 to me, but I am no expert
Could be a 321 service dial. But looks like a 76-90 861 dial. Feet height is the only way to know. @cagkut why are you sure it's a 321?
Here's an 861 looking 321 dial. https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-on-straight-lug-speedy.60532/ Seems the only plausible solution if it doesn't fit (but OP, send pics of the back along)
It depends on the dial feet at the back of the dial http://speedmaster101.com/blog/calibre-321-service-dials/
Can't help but noticing the base of the 861 looks a tad anemic, whereas the 321 appears quite robust. Was the 321 design over-kill...or the 861 a less than optimal re-design?
I was sure that a watchmaker would be able to fit that dial if it was the correct one for the OP's 861 movement and if he couldn't, the only option is that the dial is for a 321
There are service dials with painted logo for cal. 321 Speedies. Have a look here: http://speedmaster101.com/blog/calibre-321-service-dials/ Nico
Considering that there aren't many people whom would want that dial in a 321 watch, I'm guessing value is rather low. What about having them cut the legs and solder on 861 legs?
The problem is that I can't find a watchmaker that is willing to do the soldering. This dial was sold to me by a forum member here who knew I was going to fit it to a 861, so that kinda sucks. I guess I should have done better research
