    Hello ,

Can anybody with some hands on experience with the above watch let me know if the dial is pure white and if the finish is gloss (reflective) or Matt or textured?

Is it similar to the shade of white / dial finish used on the Tudor Chrono 79260 panda?

Trying to decide which one to save up for between those two. Due to sheer luck I managed to handle a tudor big block panda and the dial is amazing , brilliant glossy white with inky black subdials but no matter how long I looked I never managed to handle a Speedmaster date panda.

I Iike the look of both and they have pros and cons but the finish/shade of the dial became important after handling the Tudor.

    Kind regards ,

    Alex

go for the 323.30.40.40.02.001. a bit harder to find as it was a JDM limited edition. dial varies between white, off-white, and silver depending on the lighting. it really is a nice dial.

Beautiful dial indeed, had this model and is indeed harder to get as was a Japan limited edition (there is a black version available too).

Relax and take your time. You do not need to decide before saving up, only before actually spending the money :D

Francisco, I believe we spoke earlier this year after you had sold yours. I ended up finding one with B&P from a non Japanese seller. The sellers on ebay from Japan are asking crazy prices for them, usually with no papers which means they probably just threw the dial and hands on. anyway, it was supposed to hold me over until my name finally gets called for a DaytonaC but I think I'll have a hard time parting with it!

to the OP, i also had a 79280 a few years ago....for all of about 2 months. never bonded with it. it doesnt wear like a vintage Daytona or even a Submariner. it is a THICK watch and just wasnt my thing.

Nice pickup. I also had the Tudor Chronograph (first a 79260 and more recently a 79270) but sold them to fund other pieces (current chrono is a Speedy 3572.50, below). That panda dial is really special, enjoy it in good health!

The reverse panda dial is something special, like a mini Speedy Tuesday 1.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had it on the list for a while till I found out it's not a pure white dial.

While some people like the fact it changes colour , unfortunately I'm not one of them.

I much prefer a pure white dial, especially with a gloss finish.

Also don't like the reverse colour date.

True :) but this can definitely seal the deal, if the dial had a reflective/porcelain like finish.

Isn't the Speedmaster date panda even thicker at 15mm?

You mean this one? Which I just happen to be wearing today lol.

The dial is between semi matte and glossy. It’s a pretty watch but I rarely wear mine. It wears a bit smaller then you think at 40mm. I’ve got a 7.5 inch wrist.

I’m not a fan of the raised center part of the Subdial.

Thanks fskywalker, thats what I found during my initial research , so about 1mm thicker than the Tudor panda chrono

The only thing I dislike on the Speedy panda is the date change at 10 via recessed button, everything else appeals to me , even the red accents some seem to dislike.

Once I can find out what finish the dial has , it might be sorted.

Still holding the hope that I'll manage to run across one in a shop and handle it

i found a pic of my old 79280. it looks like it lasted 10 days lol! this isnt a perfect comparison but it is close. the 16750 is an incredibly comfortable watch. anyway, imo the Speedy Date wears much better. perhaps the domed crystal adds a little height but imo, it wears flatter than the 79280.

    Beautiful 79280.

Managed go try on a 3210.50. I believe it shares the case with the panda I'm looking into. If wears very well due to the reasonably sized lugs and due to the sculpted case it seems less thick than it actually is.

Yes it’s the same case size wise, but not exactly the same case.

When you get your Daytona I’d like a crack at this one ;). I’ve been looking for one for a while but as you mentioned.... people are asking stupid amounts for them. I just picked up another Japan LE and this one is really at the top of my list now.
