Speedmaster Clasp

Probably quite a stupid question that can be answered really fast. Was searching online but ss there are different clasps I got a bit lost.
The deployment clasp is from an Omega Semaster Aqua Terra and 18mm.

Is it exactly the same as used with Speedmaster Professional models? Or different. And how much does it cost new in a boutique (as I see everywhere different prices online)?

thanks a lot for the info.

There are different versions (brushed/polished, different shape of exposed buckle (curved/shield), size (16mm/18mm), regular/short length). I believe they are the same between Seamaster and Speedmaster.

Last one I bought at OB in Jan 2019 was US$260. Be aware, there are many fake buckles out there, be sure of what you are buying. If you see a cheap price it is probably a knockoff.

Thanks for that. Yes that explains the confusion, as I saw several online.

I got the black croc strap and deployant when I bought my Speedy last Tuesday. The OB showed me three different options - brushed/polished, all polished, and all brushed. I ended up going with the brushed & polished one because I thought it fit the best appearance-wise.

The 18mm deployants all have different part numbers and are more than likely shared across Omega’s product line; although I can’t tell you what comes with what.

Hesalite comes with a 16mm buckle while the Sapphire Sandwich comes with an 18mm buckle if you were to buy on strap instead of bracelet. The buckles are interchangeable between watches as long as there’s a strap that fits it.

That explains a lot. Thank you all for the feedback. Was not aware of all the different options.
As there are a lot of fakes around, what do you think about the following one?

The part number is hidden, so hard to say. Have the person flip the clasp over.

Be nice to have the part number of the strap as well.

Let me check, asked the seller for it.

Is that an 18/16 strap? If so and that is what you want, the 16mm buckle is correct.

According to him a 19mm strap (which would be nice for my 60th anniversary or FOIS). just googled the number it should be 16mm at the buckle if I’m not at all wrong.

If you’re using this for a moon watch, you want the 18mm buckle. There are a lot more strap options that fit a 20 taper to 18 vs a 20 taper to 16.

My FOIS i use an 18mm buckle and put the rubber Speedy racing strap on it. There aren’t a lot of 19 taper to 18 strap options in the Omega catalog.

thx for that. Just checked, should work for the FOIS (16mm at the buckle) and for my after market strap of the 60th Anniversary, which is as well 16mm at the end.

Will still search for a 18mm one for my tokyo 2020 rising sun with aftermarket strap. But anyway thinking of getting the uncle seiko flat link for that one.

19/16 is popular in Omega history and I once got a DeVille with that size combination. If that's what you need, then this is correct. 19/18 is almost unknown.

As for the claim that there are a lot more 20/18 than 20/16... maybe NOW. But it was prevalent a couple decades ago and may exist used.

19/18 is used for the 39.5mm Planet Ocean and the now discontinued 40mm Speedmaster Racing. Any of these should fit the FOIS.

I’m not aware of any other Omega watch that currently uses 20/16 other than the Hesalite. At least in the Speedmaster and Seamaster range. I could be wrong but I haven’t seen many Omega straps that are 20/16. I’ve mainly seen 20/18 and 19/16.

Ues, that is a 19/16. So exactly what I’m searching for. Should fit my FOIS or 60th anniversary quite well. Will post a picture if the sale will happen. Lets see.

An 18mm clasp for a Speedmaster is far more flexible than a 16mm. Looks and feels better, too. We live in 2020, not 1970.
