I am looking to swap out the caseback on my 3750 with the 3753 (sapphire sandwich).

Does anyone know the omega product code for the 3753's sapphire caseback and the product code for the correct enlargement ring?

Have you considered getting a Thomas Preik Speedmaster back?
This is what most folks use. A replacement sapphire back from Omega can be quite a bit more expensive.

That's the way to go. I think the Preik are on special at the moment as well.

Just curious. Would anyone happen to know about how much an Omega sapphire caseback for a speedy
    would cost?

I'm sorry I wasn't very specific. I was referring to the actual Omega branded caseback found on the 3573.5 for example, not the off branded one.

Just checked with a mate who believes they are a little over USD400 (around AUD600). Hope that helps.

The Preik ones are indeed very well made from what I've seen and read. However, the two things that swayed me away from purchasing one to mount on a Speedy were the finishing and the design. The finishing is all brushed or matte while the normal Speedy caseback is polished. Also, the design is rather utilitarian and rounded, which I think fits better with a Seamaster or Submariner than a Speedy which has a bit more flourish in the case design. This is all just my opinion, but for me the original caseback fits in better with the overall Speedy design than the Preik one.

So the casebacks are very few and far between, but the prices are usually $400 minimum. You would probably be better off selling the 3570 and purchasing a 3592/3572/3573/311.....006 for two reasons - you get the caseback and spacer factory installed, and you also get the decorated movement without the Delrin brake so it looks better through the caseback. Including acquisition and installation costs you'd be at least paying as much as the price difference between the two watches.

I agree win Yinzerniner.. The 3572.50 is a good alternative to what you're doing for the reasons mentioned. The 3592.50 is beautiful as well.

With Preik you have a choice of satin or polished back

I have to be honest, the only reason to fit a Priek back is price and availability.

I have never looked at a Priek backed speedmaster and thought, Oh that looks way better!

The curve on the outer edge simply does not fit (to my eye) the design and curves of the case band.

    It is a jarring juxtaposition.

There is an argument that it works for viewing a 321 as they never had sapphire backs, better still on straight lugs if you must, but I have not seen an 861 that improves for it, nor an owner who doesn't say "I would have got the original, but...."

Still it's a cheap easy and reversible mod that harms no one.

I agree with spacefruit that the preik's don't jive with the lines of a speedy case, but it's a decent way to expose the movement for viewing pleasure - and protect the original caseback - for relatively cheap and with no harm done to the watch.

Thanks for all the info! I was just asking because I was curious. I currently own the .005 and was just wondering how much it would cost to fit the case back on the .006. However, I enjoy the aesthetic of the hesalite much more than the sapphire, which is why I chose the .005 rather than .006 even though the sapphire case back in quite interesting. However, for $400 it doesn't seem worth it to fit the genuine case back, and I would rather now spoil the looks of the case with the priek case as oddly points out above.

I was in the same boat. But omega refused to sell me an omega case back bc my refrances didn't originally come with it. Guess they only wona show off the movement that has been plated. So I called up custom watch concepts. Couldn't be happier

    @cicindela
All the available pics I've seen show the caseback in brushed finish. Good to know there's a choice out there.

However, I think it actually looks worse with the polished finish. The bulbous rounded edges are more accentuated with the polished finish and to me doesn't have any cohesive rhythm with the rest of the case at all.
I understand why someone would go the Preik caseback route on a 321 since there was never a factory option for a see-through caseback and you want to view the gorgeous movement. However, with the 861 and 1861 movements there IS a factory option and the price difference is somewhat negligible (difference of $250 at most including all labor). Unless a particular Speedy has some sentimental or intrinsic value I don't see why someone would prefer the Preik caseback over just swapping a x861 for an x863 model.
