I'm looking at a mint cond. Speedmaster broad arrow, still under Omega warranty. This is not a 57, and has an eta movement. Asking $3995 negotiable. Any experience or info will be appreciated Thanks Mark
Could you be more specific, are you buying?, Where? What model number. What is your question? Pictures?
Hello Mark. Nice to see you on the Forum. Hope you don't mind me adding a little pointer here: I think if you try to add a bit more of an introduction plus a bit more detail to your enquiry you may find you'll get a better response. They're a lovely bunch of chaps but they are serious horologists and they sometimes get 'the arse' with that kind of intro mate. It makes it look as though the person is not really that bothered... Just a thought???
https://www.govbergwatches.com/shop/pre-owned-omega-speedmaster-broad-arrow-321-12-42-50-01-001/ Here is the link to the watch I'm considering. I asked the dealer if it is a 57, and he says no. He says it has an eta movement. I'm not familiar with this watch configuration. But this is a highly reputable dealer. I just wanted to know if anyone on the furom owned or was familiar with this one of the many variations of the Speedmaster. Regarding me: I apologize if I broke protocol. My name is Mark, and I live in Pennsylvania. I have only recently thought of myself as a collector. I currently have 6 watches, but know Omegas. My next purchase will no doubt be a Speedmaster, it just a matter of which one.
Here's where you begin your research. https://www.omegawatches.com/watche...ow/co-axial-chronograph-42-mm/32112425001001/ http://watchbase.com/omega/caliber/3313 Govberg advertise it as a 321.12.42.50.01.001, and it has a red 1957 on the dial. If you don't get what's advertised then send it back. The person quoting an ETA movement may not be an Omega expert.
Your jeweller is both right and wrong but mostly wrong and trying to sell you a watch built about at least 6 years ago as new, maybe nearly 10 years ago since it was launched in late 2007 for the Speedmaster 50th anniversary. A nice watch though not an eta movement, more unusual than that as noted above, Omega modified F Piguet. Of course it can be called a 1957 model as it is written on the dial but the confusion is that Omega chose the 1957 name for this watches 2 register 9300 movement successor. There were some long running issues with the 33X3 movements and it is a good idea to do your research. Here is my silver dial version which has been perfect:
That reference is a SP BROAD ARROW 1957 CO-AXIAL 42MM. Uses the F. Piguet based Cal. 3313. Clearly not an ETA movement, and you will want to make sure it is a "C" version of the movement, and that the chronograph has been properly upgraded with the newer parts. Cheers, Al
Guys thanks for clearing the fog around this watch. I'm shocked that I didn't see the the 57 in the photo. They claim the watch was originally sold new 2016. The 57 is one of my favorite watches(ecstatically), but this one might be something to avoid. The dealer also has this https://www.govbergwatches.com/shop...dmaster-moon-chronograph-311-32-40-30-01-001/. With the manual wind. At the same price. Opinions please, And thanks to all for your help Mark
