Hello, I am new to this forum and generally not that knowledgeable on any of this, so please have mercy. I have a 1957 Broad Arrow Speedmaster (as shown in picture below) and I really dislike the chunky bracelet. Looking around, the 1450 caught my eye, but I also noticed that it is really hard to find. So my questions are: (1) If I am able to find one, will it seamlessly fit my model assuming they are both 20mm? (2) Any suggestions on where to find one? (3) Any suggestions on an easier to find similar option?
Bracelets are confusing. There are so many options but finding one that fits your watch, both physically and aesthetically, is a chore. Consider a black leather strap for style and convenience. I'm wearing one on my Co-Axial Moonwatch Chrono with the deployment clasp. Comfortable, easily adjusted, and sleeker than the hefty metal bracelet with which it came. This strap was included with the watch from Omega. I've tried a dozen other strap options but always come back to this strap.
Hi And welcome to the forum. The 1450 is a lovely bracelet, and it will fit (well technically its the end-links, usually 808 or 809 (for the 'grail)). It is 20mm. Where can you find one? Now thats the million dollar question. They are very hard to find. Usually they come with a watch (so if you are in the market for another Speedy...). Or auctioned on e-bay (they fetch anything from $1k up). You can still get, directly from Omega, the 1171 bracelet (with 633 endlinks). Costs about $450 brand new. Just go to any Omega Boutique (or call them up and order one). It looks sort-of-similar, not as good quality as the 1450 or the earlier 1171's, but IMHO much prettier than the shiney chunky 'modern' (read : 20+ years old) bracelets. Thats the only alternative Omega new option (at present) I am afraid. There is hope that they will make something modern yet retro (i.e. no shiney center links, flat link or otherwise) in the not too distant future. And wear your watch in good health. Best regards, Eugene
That 1450 bracelet is going to set you back about a grand, if you can find one. I agree that it will look better than what is currently on the watch.
Thanks everyone! I am intrigued by the 1171, so may look into that. Otherwise, I think I am going to play with some leather/suede/nato straps from B&R. So much great info on this site.
Just thought I'd let you know you're wearing the deployant clasp reversed. When you flip over your wrist, the Omega logo should look correct to you.
Yeah, when I was trying a bunch of different straps I reversed it. I was too tired to fix it at the time.
Is there a chart or any material online that shows which end links fit certain cases or our interchangeable with only end links? My end links say 887, so would 633 be compatible?
There is an 1175 bracelet for sale in the Classifieds section here: Omega Speedmaster Bracelet 1175 (Pictures added) https://omegaforums.net/index.php?threads/Omega-Speedmaster-Bracelet-1175-(Pictures-added).57643/ Offered at 550 Euro. Even if it's not the one you want it should give you an idea of prices.
The 1171 comes up for sale every now and then. One sold in March for $500 US. New in the wrappers, 1171-1 and 633 ends...SOLD https://omegaforums.net/index.php?threads/New-in-the-wrappers,-1171-1-and-633-ends...SOLD.54407/
Unearthing this thread after many years since I also still have the same question: With all the Speedy bracelets released in recent years by Forstner or Uncle Straps, would possibly one of them (with solid end links) fit my automatic opaline 1957 Broad Arrow Speedmaster, which I currently wear with its OG chunky bracelet with the 887 end links?
Can you post a pic of the watch. Do you mean this? The Uncle Seiko flat link bracelet certainly fit the BA yes, but that has hollow end link. I’ve swapped a few bracelets about and from my limited experience I suspect that whatever fits the 1861 movement Pro models will also fit the BA cases but of course solid end links can be more problematic as the fit has to be exact.
The fit is also dependant on the position of the lug holes which have shift slightly over the years this doesn’t mean they can’t be made to fit, but some slight adjustment may be required.
@padders (Yes, that’s the watch) & @Davidt - Thank you guys for the feedback. That the hollow end links from US can be made to fit the BA 1957 Auto is already useful information… I now actually remember that I still must have such a hollow end link bracelet (Holzer variant) lying around somewhere… Bought it for an Enicar Superdive, which I currently prefer on rubber. Worth a try.
