So I was looking at a Speedmaster Pro 311.30.42.30.01.005 with the huge big presentation box. The card is dated sometime in 2017, but the seller told me the serial number dates it to 2007-2008. The serial number is 7875XXXX. This made me think if the watch was not originally sold with the big presentation box, and just added in separately. All the Speedy serial number databases seem to only go as far as 2000. Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks
Yes, unless they replaced the bracelet too. Most of the 2007-2008 watches I've seen have serials in the 77xxx range. 78xxx is fairly new. Warranty card not present?
Yes, it comes with the pictograms and the international warranty. The seller also sent me a close up of the warranty card with the shop info and serial number
New Speedmasters Pro 311.30.42.30.01.005 with box set come in 7875XXXX range. Do not see any issues here.
Watch was just sold Luckily these are in no short supply Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll keep it in mind while I keep shopping
A moot point now, but think it’s entirely possible the watch was made in 2007/8 and has been in stock at a dealer unsold for a decade. Would explain why the warranty was only dated to 2007.
An incorrect rather than moot I think, not possible at all in this case. The warranty card was dated 2017 and the serial was fine for 2017. 78.75m wasn’t made in 2007, it would be a 3570 model for a start with a red box. Speedmaster serials don’t jump like the tables say at a million a year, not for the past 30 years anyway. My 2018 Speedy Tuesday has a 77.78m serial...
