Speedmaster 57 Two Tone Worth Buying?

Sold two of my Rolexes recently and am looking at this Speedmaster but know nothing about Speedmasters never having owned one. Reference # on this one is 331.20.42.51.02.001
Q. Anyone have or have had one of these? What is the '57' in reference to and are the links in the band solid 18k gold or just plated?
Any opinions on this model are welcome!

'57 is in reference to the first Speedmaster in 1957. ...which had three subdials and no date. And arrow hands.

Solid yellow gold links, bezel, pushers and crown. No plating. If you like the piece and the price is right, it is a nice watch. Many people don't like two tone designs, but inherently nothing wrong with them.

These Cal 9000 series Speedys are losing value quite substantially on the secondary market so there are some really good deals to be had lightly used if you look around, the two-tone in particular is extremely costly new but drops like a stone.

Frankly, it is not what most of us call a Speedmaster. It is a marketing derivative that has none of the timeless appeal of a Speedmaster Moonwatch, which I suggest would be a better investment.

If you like the appearance of the two sub-dial design, why not go for a vintage 18k gold one like this? And have money left over for something else?
