321.JPG What would the approximate value be of a 1962-63 speedmaster 321 20525430 105002-62 39mm with no rust, and excellent dial and case? I need to know what to insure it for.

You should insure it in case it gets lost, stolen or damaged.

Ever since hiding behind a display screen, and tweeting. Manners have gone the way of the Dodo.

I think those with inherent good manners will continue to display them, while those who used good manners only because they had to in interactions finally have a perceived freedom not to.

Why should he bother? It's not as if we'll ever see him again after he has got an answer.

Maybe he was in a hurry? No time to make a polite entrance.

    It's a nice watch, though.

Looks to me like an auction picture, so I bet it's on auction somewhere, ending soon, hence the rush of the OP

Hi Keven, I imagine its worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Try going on eBay for similar references to see what the bidding ended at and maybe on chrono24 as well.

    Keven,
    welcome to the forum.
Forgive my fellows, who are tired of smash and grabbers. I don't see that in your post. I look forward to hearing more on your watch. (Where it came from will you keep it does it run will you service it etc)

The 105.002 is very rare. Can come in two executions and yours is the slightly less valuable baton hand version. These were made in very small numbers and are hard to pin down on value. More than a 105.003 and less or the same as a 2998-62.

That said, in these straight lugs, the big money follows the dial, then the case then the bezel.

Yours looks good. Probably sell for $12,000 to $18,000 depending on how and where.

Don't be a stranger. You have a very special speedmaster

Thanks to all for the responses. I am sorry to have been brusque, apology offered! I was in-fact in a time crunch, at work, and needed to be quick, customers were waiting! I am a jeweler/goldsmith (familiar enough, but not expert in horology) and frequently have need of a market feel for items that I come across as a service to my customers. Especially when that item has such a strong following as the Speedmaster. This site was recommended to me as a resource. I thank you for your assistance and guidance. I am not a fan of checking similar items on EBAY, because similar can be very dangerous. I recognized this as being a special watch that needed more consideration than just consulting the Complete Guide to Watches, which would have resulted in a great disservice to my customer. Thank you for supporting your community of owners and aficionados, and those supporting them. -keven-

Hi Kevan, thanks for coming back and expanding on your initial post. As noted above, www.speedmaster101.com really is the best one-stop resource for the minutiae and values of vintage Speedmasters and gives a very representative indication of the current market.

Looks like you have one lucky customer!
