Speedmaster 321 - replace bezel for DON

Hello fellow Omega fans!

I'm curious to hear what everyone's opinion is on buying a 321 Speedy (105.012 or 105.003) with a dot next to ninety bezel, and swapping it for a genuine DON bezel.

There's a strong market for DON bezels, including some being sold on this forum.

Context: Due to the high cost for a good speedy, I'm considering buying one which requires a bit of work. I'm not prepared to compromise on the dial, which means the bezel and bracelet are the main areas I can sacrifice

Of course it’s fine to buy one with a bezel that needs replacing. Just make sure to account for the cost in your valuation (and then some, no point deducting £2k if you could just buy one with a DoN for the same).

The discount should be greater than the cost to put it right, otherwise what’s the point!? This is the bit many people get wrong. They overpay for a watch that needs work and subsequently find out the cost of the work exceeds the value of the watch when finished (or even what they would have had to pay for a good example in the first place).

So..... The placement of a dot on the bezel is worth the expence of a new bezel?

As a Seamaster owner I have to say; Welcome to the Speedy club, you will fit right in. 😉

You will typically pay more to do what you suggested.
