Hey guys, I have the chance to get these 2998 Alpha hands. Short question: are they legit and what are they really worth? Its really hard to price them, since they are so rare and I can't find any rescent sale. I see a triangle at the hour hand, but I am unsure if they are rounded or service hands. Thanks, Nico
A set in a good condition sells around 3k€ nowadays. But for that price range the radium should still be present DIBS on that dial @JimJupiter
I wish it would be mine I asked the seller to show the hands with dial, so I can see if they have the right length.
Make sure they're convex, not flat. Get the seller to lay them on a ruler with 0 in the middle of the hole. Get close ups of the lume cut outs.
If legitimate (hard to tell from those two pictures), they're worth $3.5-4K. Stupid, but it's what the market commands. Lot of incorrect 2998s out there...
I'll be overly transparent - I recently bought an identical set for the range that I indicated above and the minute hand was missing lume. So yes, there are a lot of needy examples and very few correct hands available.
Excuse my ignorance but what’s wrong with the cheap ones on eBay? Fakes? Wrong size? New? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/292277602742Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I did, that helped a lot! I managed to get another pair in better condition. I read that there are fakes out there. How can I proof this pair is not? Seller said the Geiger counter shows 6-8msv. Is that something you can’t fake, cause you have to have good connections to North Korea or something? These are the hands: Thanks Nico
nico, if the minute hand is slightly curved in itself in width, that is a good sign. but it need inspection; the fakes are very , very good now. kind regards. achim
Thanks, that’s good news. A friend of mine has a Geiger counter, i will try that too when they arrive. Nico
