Well that is interesting, I understand how Omega have managed to monopolise the UK market but I am very surprised that they have managed to cut off Orfei because of the laws in the US protecting small businesses and anti monopolies. I am not up on this but a very close friend and mentor is a professor of international law in Miaimi and we were discussing Omegas release of parts/ restriction of parts and how the US could be an option because Omega may not be able to enforce it there... appears they have!
I called Orfei and was told that Omega recently stopped selling to all of the parts houses in the US.

Just a thought - leave the watch just as it is. The change in hand is historical and happened while your grandfather owned it. A new 'correct' leaf hand will still be a replacement hand. Personally I find the watch more 'honest' as it is. It's a beautiful thing, enjoy it, leave it alone and wear it occasionally would be my humble advice.

It'll be a good subject for conversation when wearing the FOIS, for sure 😁

"Oh, I have the other two leaf hands on my other Speedmaster..."

Beautiful watch and thanks for sharing. I wonder if the leaf minute register hand was replaced? It looks a little short??

I really don't know. We didn't really talk about the watch a whole lot. He did mention one time that he had had others Omega chronographs. He said he would break one and by another one. When I got the watch about 15 years ago, the chrono second hand was slightly bent and paint had flaked off the center shaft area. I had it straightened and touched up. He probably damaged it and sent it to Omega for repair and I'm assuming that's how the leaf hand was replaced with the stick hand. I'll never know because there's no one to ask.
