    Hi All
I've posted on this topic previously
    I have a Speedy with a 220 bezel
My reference is 29500, which doesnt fit with most 220 bezel watches which come in the 30 reference.
The watch has been in my family since new
My father has served the Watch regularly, when in Portague, and cannot recall the bezel ever been changed.
The original bezel has never been damaged!
The Omega archive dates the watch to June 1970 built.
My father purchased it new in December 1972.
I can't work out why the 220 bezel is on it?

    Any thought?

Time period is correct. I see no issue. June 70 is the expected age.

The speedy bible states middle of 1970 was the production of the error bezel. Yes the Bible also states your production range but I’m not sure how hard a range that is.

Note your reference is 145.022-69 your serial number is 25,5xx,xxx.

Note Alaska project watches also had this error and are 29,116,xxx

    Thankyou for your response
    My ref is 29111550.
What I've read the 220 bezel error occurred in the later ref 30...

220 ranges were in the later parts of 1970, more or less end of Q3 thru Q4 and a few confirmed from Q1 1971. Range is in the 305-309xxxxx serials.... this one has probably had its bezel replaced. If it was bought new with that bezel in Dec 1972, my theory is that perhaps the original bezel was damaged while the watch was in stock and was replaced by the store prior to sale.

The correct bezel for your watch is a DON, which is worth a whole lot more than a 220 though, and the watch as-is has a lot of history, so I think you're best off keeping it and enjoying it

The 220 bezel does not go with that serial. Either the bezel (likely), or movement (unlikely) or has changed at some point.
