Speedmaster 1997 help

Hi all,
I'm thinking about getting a Speedy. I found this one which is 1997 and seems in good condition but has no bracelet (comes with original box and original papers). I was wondering what a fair price would be for something like this, assuming it has an old movement and i would intend to source a bracelet later on. I do like vintage watches (is 1997 vintage? debatable, but you see the point), but for a chrono i wonder if it is worth it, given that prices seem to be similar to newer models. What do you guys think?
thanks

It depends completely on whether you want a tritium dial/hands (which this has) so that it will patina over time, or want to actually have them glow (like modern). from the pictures, I will say the tritium looks pretty nice on that one, so should age well.

I don't have a strong preference, just would like one in decent condition. This has been serviced last time 10 years ago so probably needs a service. They are asking around 2.2k, so all in all it would cost 3k after service without bracelet which seems a bit steep to me, wdyt?

Is that €/£/$?

Looks to be a late tritium 3570, so it depends on your dial preference, aesthetics or visibility?
As to price, no idea.
If I like a watch enough I just buy it and then eat pet food until the budget re-balances.

I don’t think the price is that bad.

Personally, I prefer the late 80’s/early 90’s models as they have the more ‘vintage’ font on the bezel and dial. I also prefer a bracelet on a Speedmaster so I’d be sourcing one of those.
That said, if you like this and you’re not bothered about a bracelet, the price seems reasonable.

i second this. If you’d like a bracelet, there are many great options out there. Many vintage bracelets are available on eBay. Uncle Seiko makes very reasonably priced aftermarket options that reproduce the look of classic Speedy bracelets. Alternatively, you could consider contacting an Omega boutique and ordering the new bracelet from the 3861 speedmaster. I think the new bracelets are a great value.

1171/1 bracelets are available from Omega and look great, or Uncle Seiko has a great line of bracelets for the Speedy Pro.

Seems like a good price to me, especially w original box and papers. Make sure they post a movement pic to ensure things look healthy under the hood. I see the lack of original bracelet as positive you can pair with the bracelet or strap of your choosing.
