    Hi forum,

I just picked up this Omega Speedmaster, eligibly from 1974, and would like your opinion of it? Shape? Authentic?
I apologize for the low quality pics I haven't received the watch yet. Thanks in advance,
    P

I believe the 74 was the first year with flat dial. If it's a stepped dial, this might be a 71!

I'll upload some finer photos once it has arrived. I am also a little anxious on the exact reference number, perhaps a '71 indeed!

The stepped dial looks very nice. The only issue that I see is that the '74(according to MWO) had a flat dial. Also, the entire movement number is photoshopped out. I believe You need to get a photo of movement number in order to make sure that it is correct. Perhaps it is a very early '74 which was made with a left over stepped dial. Perhaps there is more to it.

The movement number bridge is blank. Perhaps sanded down

I'm sorry if I upset you. Initially, I thought you were considering this watch. Now I realize you have already purchased it. From where? If it was from ebay, you should be able to return it under the Buyer protection program...open a case. Any reputable seller should take it back as well.

Even if you can't return it, or decide not to, it's still a great looking watch, just not "collectability speaking", all correct.

What's the point of sanding down the serial number?

Doesn't look like it has been sanded down . This must be either a service movement or the bridge is a service parts . It could be a Lemania 1873 movement also .With a Omega bridge ? Isn't their a Delrin brake ? . When did that came ?

It's an Omega movement, as I can see the Omega symbol on the main plate near the balance. The serial number is not sanded off - that would require removing a LOT of material. Most likely the escape wheel cock has been replaced with one that does not have a serial number on it.

I would send it back for this issue personally.

    Cheers, Al

What is your question about the Delrin brake?

If that is spotted right? That the movement has a delrin brake? When did that came?
