    Hello guys,

Taking picture of my 321 Speedmaster i noticed an uncommon engravings in the inner caseback, what to my eyes looks like:

    M 6867

    IMG_9825.JPG

Do you ever seen something like that, or have you any clue of what it could be?
Of course, I asked for an archive extract immediately.

thanks for reading and for your help.

    Cheers
    Chris

I haven't seen that before but am certainly not an expert. I'm thinking it is No 6867. May possible be a reference number? To what, not sure. Some better informed members will chime in soon enough.

Could be a secret code for equipment procured for a off the record CIA effort to infiltrate the soviet space program!....... or just a watchmakers marking....or individual marking for insurance purposes....who knows....

    The only plausible answer is:

    Prototype.

    Lovely watch and dial.

I wouldn't hold my breath regarding the inscription though. Likely just a watchmakers mark or similar.

I don't know what it means but I don't think it is a watch makers mark. Most watch makers marks are just scratched and not very neat. To me this looks like it was purposefully engraved, very neatly.

The fact is the Omega Extract (99%) will not help me, even if it's something more cool.
If the writing is N° 6867 (and not M 6768 like I see/said) the thing could me much more interesting.

I don't think that's very likely really - no watchmaker I know would take the time to engrave a code like that...a quick scratch and on to the next watch...
