    Hi,
I am a member since March 2017 but other than a purchase some months afterwards I have not posted/participated -preferring to keep my lack of knowledge firmly to myself.
However, I have happily spent quite some time reading the threads on the forums. In particular I have read up on Speedmasters with a view to making a purchase down the line. The knowledge(and sharing) on this site is breathtaking-Speedmaster 101 being deserving of special mention.

I recently saw and purchased a Speedmaster 145.022-78. I have now received it and have a 30 day return option (now down to 23 days). Although I have read extensively, this has really only emphasised to me how little I know particularly when spending hard earned cash. I would therefore very much welcome and appreciate some advice on my purchase from forum members while I still have an option to return the watch.
I have posted some photos below which I hope are adequate.
I am aware that the hands are wrong for this watch ( Mark 4.5 hands?) but most other aspects appear to my inexperienced eye to be reasonably as they should be.
However having spent time on this forum I am very well aware that many before me thought in a similar vein only to be quickly (and gently?) informed otherwise.
Many thanks in anticipation of your time and knowledge.
    JD

I can’t see the movement number very well (I’m on mobile, 39 million I think?), if so the serial is the correct range for a 78. Movement looks correct fitted with the Delrin Brake (plastic piece, I can provide a pic if needed). You mentioned incorrect hands. Tall & Open S C3 Dial would be correct for this 78. Crown is incorrect, not the worst thing though in my opinion on this late of a Speedy as you can probably find a correct one on eBay. DNN bezel is correct for this as well. I guess it all really depends what you paid :)

edit: 1171/1 bracelet for later 145.0022 models

    Hello,
Thank you for observations to date. The watch cost me £2,500 ($3,275).
Yes the serial number is 39,920,xxx.
    Many thanks.

I'm not great with vintage speeds, but IMHO I think that is a good price. Keep in mind a service and a sourcing the correct hands will send you back quite a bit. After that though, I'd guess that you have a good 78 for a good price.

Add in price of correct bracelet if interested. But sell off this bracelet so a few hundred difference. Maybe? 145.022 near $3K not terrible.

You got it at a decent price considering the bracelet. But getting a set of correct tritium hands is going to cost another few hundred dollars.

Is it just me or do the pushers look wrong? Maybe just service parts but in some photos they don’t look like Omega pushers at all.

Many thanks again to all for their observations and sharing of knowledge.
I have decided to keep this watch given the price. I have sourced a correct crown and it will be with me shortly.
I was not aware that the pushers are possibly wrong. I will check this out as best I can.
I now need to source correct hands and understand that this may be a challenge.
I have arranged to have the watch serviced when I get suitable hands( which may be some time) However, the watch will not be used in the interim.
The 1171/1 bracelet (although wrong) will have to suffice for the present given the above priorities.
Again, thanks to all members for their generous time and assistance-it is greatly appreciated.
