I have been bitten by the speedy bug and I want to buy something vintage, I found this one, the watch has problems, the owner said that it doesn’t reset right…. It is supposed to be a 145.022 69ST and I must confess I don’t have the experience or knowledge to know if the watch is 100% original and what could be its value (having in mind that must be taken to a watchmaker due to its problems, lets said it needs service and some maintenance). 20112016024.jpg 20112016025 (1).jpg 20112016027 (1).jpg 20112016029.jpg 23112016030 (1).jpg 23112016034 (1).jpg

This are the photos that he sent to me, not the best but it is something…..

What do you think gentlemen? It is 100% original? How much I must pay knowing it has problems?…

It all depends on what the price is. Condition of the bezel is the watch's strongest asset. The rest is in poor shape, including the bracelet.

Also - the end links are mismatched / incorrect.

If you have access to Swiss Time Services (or similar vintage sympathetic Omega Parts account watchmakers, eg @Archer ) then its a good buy.

The watch has the right parts, although the chrono hand looks a different colour, so possibly replaced.

Its a bit beaten, the bezel is a little battered, and the case has chunks out of it. Bracelet is shagged.

What to pay is down to you.

Search completed listings on ebay, look at Antiquorum and the other recent Auction houses.

It's a project watch. At that price it sells pretty easily in my opinion.

I would not buy unless I knew exactly what the cost is to repair, otherwise I buy based on usable parts.

I think one challenge we face is you have many watch enthusiasts not very knowledgeable willing and able to pay high prices for poor examples. Noticed a few mismatched vintage Speedmasters selling this week on eBay with incorrect dials, bezels, etc. Harder to find a solid example these days.

I'm looking for a -71 by the way.

I would offer $2K and buy at $2,250 if he holds firm. Even as a parts watch, it's worth more than that. Good find!

It's a reasonable price, it's worth the investment.

I think that if you don't close the deal soon at asking, someone else soon will.

Yup I'd be interested in that for a racing dial conversion for 2250 in a heartbeat.

It is not that easy, the watch is in Latin America, I need to agree the terms of the negotiation, how to pay, when, how the watch will be delivered, etc….. I bought many watches before that way but also I have been ripped off a couple of times.

And with that bezel at that price, in S America, it could easily be about to happen again.

I was about to type "don't bother negotiating, just buy it at asking price" until the last couple of posts.

Anyone with access to the internet can pretty quickly find out what a 145.022-69 with DoN bezel is worth.

I'd be concerned this was priced low to entice buyers into a scam. Do thorough due diligence on the seller.

Looks good to me for 861 transitional. SN is somewhere in 25xxxxxx. Slightly blur. If the bite really hurts, then you cannot sleep.
