    Good evening,

Looking for a litle bit of advice from the professionals, I have just had me speedmaster overhauled by STS I took the decision to have the following parts replaced during the overhaul new hands as the old ones were badly corroded Along with the crown, pushers, glass in order for them to give me my two years guarantee ,
I requester the original parts back which I have . the bezel I believe is quite rare as it shows 220 rather that the normal 200. to my question I require a values for my insurance company incase anything happens to my omega Speedmaster , Im in no way trying to sell this time piece nor will you see it up for sale in any website I'm genuinely looking for a rough value .
    Thanks Steve

    Hi Steve
As an insurance value I would say 3 to 3'500.-- in $. The bezel could give a premium - but from observation it seems that these 69ers with 220 bezel do not pay higher than the ones with DON bezels. But what do I know - I still learn..... everyday.

I'd say $3,000 plus the cost of your service. IMHO, These days, I think a DON bezel is worth more than the rarer 220. Everyone wants them to dress up their serviced 321 watch

Thank very much . I payed $3200 when I was in NYC back in November the service cost my £450 at STS today, I'm a bit unsure how rare the 220 bezal is therefore im thinking of insuring it for $4000 to be on the safe side .
    Thanks againg

image.jpg The 220 bezel is certainly rare. It was only made for a few months in 1970 until the error was realized. Last year, I was fortunate enough to stumble onto a 145.022-69 with a 220 bezel and a Meister dial

what's the history/significance behind the "meister" dial? Never heard about those.

Through the 1960's, Upscale stores like Tiffany in the USA and Meister in Zurich sold Omega watches and had their store names engraved on the dials.

stunning dial not seen one like that before on a speedmaster with the Miester logo and the bezel sets it of to a tea. In Switzerland in the late 1940’s TURLER were doing the same, I was luck enough to pick this one up on a trip to France came in its original box with the original sales receipt but i'm A bit unsure of the model maybe someone can help me with this .

I would imagine that the insurance company will want an appraisal from a qualified jeweler before insuring the watch. His valuations are the same as mine since I tell him what the watch is worth. Your watch has a nice case, a beautiful dial and hands and the rare bezel. A very nice '69 pre moon.

Sometimes I also put myself these questions. The more I think about I come to the conclusions that there are different values...

Bailout value: If you have to put such a watch on the market immediately and you need the money soon, then it would be around $ 2'500.--
Replacement value: If you sold this watch two years ago, but now you find out - this is the ONE missing in your collection.... and you need it and you don't want to wait...then it can cost a lot of money because it is quite rare and there are not many on the market at the moment - maybe 4'000.--

what Do the other guys think - are there other "values"

    I'd add the :

Kept looking for one in better condition price: the price of the watch you ended up buying after passing on some perfectly good ones while you waited for one in better condition. Depending on how long you 'keep looking', then this price can be 3x the Replacement Value, possibly higher.

after speaking to my insurance company this morning regarding the values , from our conversation all there are looking for are proof that I’m the owner of the watch… they were happy with the purchase receipt and a service receipt from STS in addition I have sent them photos of the speedmaster .the one question that they keep asking surrounds the bezel how rare is it ? my reply is I have no idea I’m assuming its quite rare and you’re not going to see the on the marker very offer .

There is rare, and there is desireable. Not always the same thing.
Now if there was such a thing as a DON 220 bezel :)

The 220 bezel is uncommon, but not exactly rare since it was in production for a while and I've seen at least 6 of them for sale in the last 6 months (including the Meister labelled above which I saw sitting there for over a month but didn't buy as it was a bit overpriced in my opinion). Its use is limited to only one reference, the 145.022-69, where as the DON is usable on many and hence more desirable.

This looks to me like a ref 2374 with the 30mm automatic movement.
