Hi

I've inherited an Omega Speedmaster 145.022 - 69 ST with DON bezel and step dial from my father. He bought it himself second hand approx. 30 years ago.

As you can see on the pictures, the original owner put some markings on the dial. Unfortunately, I do not know the history behind these markings, but I suspect that he used them for some kind of time keeping, giving their position. I do not knot the material either.

I was hoping that the forum could direct me towards a watchmaker with experience in Speedmasters to clean the dial and hands if possible.

Oh sorry. I’m based in Copenhagen, Denmark. But I’m willing to send to a trusted professionel if needed.

Given the state of the dial, lume to be removed and potentially relume the hands markers(?) I’d be contacting James Hyman in the UK.

It’s obviously never going to be a great example but I’d imagine James would exceed expectations

Couple good ones here in the US as well but I am sure you'd rather stay in the EU if possible. But as recommended above, James in the UK is really good and located closer than the US at least.

James does great lume work but if that is luminova, he will struggle to get those blobs off. Even if it's tritium, don't expect him to remove those without leaving marks. Whoever you're using to service the watch would be the best person to deal with James.

Good luck and I hope you have a terrific memento of your father - I'd leave those blobs if that's how he wore it.

Cheers, Chris

Why not find a better dial ? The minute markers are damaged too....should not be a big Problem.

Now you have to be quick to buy that dial from our member. And then you can try to get the blobs off yourself .... Will be Tritium. Which should be water based. Therefore: use a very fine pointed soft hair artists paint brush and use your own Saliva. Just cover the blobs. Let it dry and do the same 3-5 times. Then very carefully with a wooden toothpick try and see if the Lume starts to crumble. Then go from there. Good luck !
