    This Speedmaster 145.022-69 is a birth-year watch that I recently was fortunate to acquire. I love the looks of Speedmaster Professional s, but I am not sure about the "patina" on the bezel. It doesn't look as bad in the flesh but the dial has flaking as depicted in the photos below. I am considering getting a new bezel for it, but I thought I would get some opinions first. Thank you. I've seen worse, and a decent replacement will run you well over $500.

    It looks great! I wouldn't change it. You bought a 69 not a 2014.

    Cheers

    If you want a very good DoN bezel you can double that at the moment.

    It's a vintage watch with normal wear. The three options are;

    1. Keep it as is.
    2. Cough up for another vintage bezel in better condition.
    3. Put on a modern bezel.

    Or 4. Keep this as your daily watch, and buy another in good all round condition which already has a good bezel!

    I know which id choose.....

    On the rare occasions that I have owned a newish car, it has always been such a relief to receive a first ding (once I've got over the initial grief). You can wear this everyday with a light and happy heart. That is a delicious croc strap.

    Thanks for all of the comments.

    The strap looks great in my opinion and is really comfortable, too.

    Looks conform to the rest of the watch.
    The investment would be much higher than the actual improvement is worth IMO

    It looks fantastic the way it is! If you end up selling it let me know as my '69 has WAY more flaking than that.

    I was in a similar boat with my 69. Decided to switch the original bezel out for a NOS non dot over 90 from the same time period. I love how clean it looks with the new bezel and I love how much character it has with the old. A few dollars for some simple tools and I can change them out almost as easily as a strap.

    It's an alligator strap I had made in the "vintage" style. It is really nice and comfortable. I can't recall whether this forum allows naming sources so I won't. Thanks for asking.

    This is the second strap I have order from Peterwatchacc, who is on TZ. Both were beautiful straps and fair priced for the quality.
