Several of the above or similar sales also result in the watch being relisted. I’d assume this is because the seller didn’t achieve the price they wanted in some cases.
Anyway, if you compare the above to asking prices for similar watches, it’s clear there’s a disparity

Absolutely, lots of fake sales on ebay.

Even reasonably decent later vintage ones. I had been given a 71 by my cousin with a 1039 bracelet and mentally thought of it being worth almost twice as much as my -76, but I guess that really isn't the case given results like this one:

I wouldn't take too much from that particular result - there are always going to be be bargains/low priced outliers in any market....and that was certainly a bargain!

Great advice already given here. Personally I find this honest piece attractive. But for me, the real issue is that anticipating the value of this watch 40 years from now is a highly risky endeavor. If your decision is purely financial, the right answer is sell it when the speedy market picks up again. Good luck.
