has anyone had success finding parts 321.1780 and 321.1788 needed to deal with chrono creep on a 105.012. My watchmaker says I need new old stock but he couldn’t find any. Too risky to buy used old stock? I’ve seen parts on eBay like this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Cali...rentrq:c631bbd01690ad4a57fdf31dfff446a2|iid:1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Hard to tell if it’s good enough to do the job.
Or should I just live with the creep and put it down to “character”?
    Views and advice welcome.

From your Spurs FC avatar, Am I right to assume you are in the UK? If so, have you tried talking to Swiss Time Services or Simon Freese Watchmakers?

You might want to ask yourself why these parts are on ebay in the first place.
Did someone take apart a perfectly good movement to sell the hard to find parts, or did they come in a little plastic bag with other worn parts after a service?

Both of these parts are still readily available from Omega. If your watchmaker is sending you out on a hunt for parts, you might want to consider another watchmaker...

By the way, most cases of "hour recorder creep" or "chrono creep" do not require replacement parts, and often not even any adjustments. It's typically poor servicing practices, lack of understanding the way things should work, or a lubrication fault.

Thats exactly why I'm asking the forum. And thanks for that. Of course its possible the movement was worn out in other respects and is now being mined for its remaining decent parts. But I simply dont trust myself. And the pictures are poor so my watchmaker finds it impossible to evaluate. Thanks again.

The only one I have creeping is one of my 105.012s that received a donor Seamaster 321 movement, and the watchmaker had suggested that some inner pusher parts that differ between the 105.012 and the Seamaster which he had to fabricate in order for it to work might be the problem, is that likely the case or just lubrication or servicing practices?

Thanks. The watchmaker seems competent but I'm not experienced enough to be sure. He was pretty sure his service would fix it and he's very clear on whats wrong: he can see the Hour Recorder Runner (321.1788) is worn down. The eccentric screw on the Hour Recording Stop Lever (321.1780) is seized up but set in the full grip position so he's confident on his diagnosis. I'm surprised the parts are readily available. Can I source them directly from Omega on line?
Many thanks for taking the trouble.

By the way, I had forwarded your post on this issue to my watchmaker already, he fully understood your points. makes me more confident his diagnosis is accurate: the parts are genuinely worn and need replacing. I have contacted Omega customer service. Lets see. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, Omega won’t sell parts to you. If your watchmaker doesn’t have an Omega parts account, you will need to find one who does.

Very rare to require replacing these...

I suppose it’s possible, but for the stop lever to lift off the hour counting wheel, it would require the hammer to be swung down quite a ways...There is a post on the hammer that contacts the stop lever to lift it off during reset. This would be pretty obvious when looking at the function of the hour counter under the dial...

I certainly hope you are getting a discount. You seem to be doing most of the work for him...

Feels like most of you are in the UK, correct? Need to find a good watchmaker in NYC for a second opinion. Any ideas?

Be very interested to see microscope pictures of these parts because as @Archer says,
Bear in mind these two comments from experienced watchmakers...
    Good luck, Chris

I’ll also add that these parts are available independent of the Swatch Group, you just have to know where to look.
