I wont comment on the condition or originality Ill leave that to the experts, but I do know that is not the original bracelet the watch came with. With date code 1-64 in the clasp it should be in a 1963 watch. Not a big problem but just putting it out there

Hello @pmontoyap. A question for you please???

Mstanga's bracelet chart shows that bracelet to be correct from 1963 to 1965. Are you saying that a bracelet with a 64 date stamp would never have been fitted to a -65 Speedmaster?:)

I would suggest looking at this site to gain a good understanding of the model that your considering buying: http://speedmaster101.com
Without commenting on originality, the case has been polished a fair amount. That should be reflected in the price.

If it is a 24m serial 105.003-65 then that watch was made in July-Dec 1966. You would expect a 66 marked bracelet unless the dealer put an older one from stock on. Which he could have of course.

Ahhh yes..... thankyou @padders. So unlikely to have still been using a 1964 date stamped bracelet from existing stock.

Im my opinion the date stamp in the clasp its not a big problem, probably its most important the rest of case condition/dial/hands/insert/caseback

im curious to know the price. if it's a bit low, then you would suspect something and vice versa. pictures can be deceiving. i must admit that i have poor vision. looks good but pray the of experts will pitch in a reliable input.

I will only comment on what I can see/tell for sure.

    Subdial hands are service.
#16 end links (originally 20mm) trimmed to 19mm to fit the EW case.

You might not be an expert but you can have an opinion on what you like about it.

Surely you've done some research of your own and don't expect us to do it all for you?

I agree with other comments regarding the hands. I believe them to be replacements or retouched at the least. The white paint is a bit too bright compared to the condition of the rest of the watch, to point out something new.

This all being said, it all depends on what you feel about the watch.

I ve not seen Mstanga’s bracelet chart sorry, Im just speaking out of personal experiences, the date in the clasp is much closer to the manufacturing date of the watch, than of the date stamped on the caseback. So, from what I have seen, a 105.012-65 assembled in mid 66 will have a 1/66 or 2/66 clasp. A very early 145.022-69 might have a 4/69 and the ones that came later with DNN bezel will be stamped 3/70 and so on... In my personal experience I have not handled a one owner speedmaster that has a bracelet with a date earlier than the year stamped in the caseback.

I dont own the MWO only though, I might be wrong if so please correct me.

It's a handy resource with some additional footnote information.

For my own learning, how do you tell when subdial hands are service replacements?

Usually, they will be whiter than you'd expect, or whiter than the hour and minute hands. Also, original ones may show signs of having been removed for service, like cracks or chips in the paint.

Those hands havent changed in decades though so for all but the most hardcore, it's generally not a deal breaker. It's good to know, if the seller knows, but not the end of the world, imho.
