Nothing worse than someone, at some time, decided he wanted to either replace the old one, or get one fitted instead of strap..

Original owner watches you typically see as is or rough, filling down a 506 knowing it'll fit and adding a 1035 off a Seamaster or something to increase the value is something you'll commonly see a dealer do.

If the owner really did buy it in 1966, that was ~50 years ago, so he'd have to be in his 70s at least, I don't see him fishing eBay for end links to modify and a spare bracelet like that.

Its possible a watchmaker did it at some point over the years but it just raises the question for me as its something typically done to maximise potential sale value on a Speedmaster, once again not something a 70-80+ year old original owner would be expected to do.

I think so. There are heavier addicts in this area on the forum though. Let's wait and see if they chime in!

Looks more like a number 9 than a number 6 to me ( easy to confuse when you are standing on your head I'm sure :D ) but either way it is also looking like it is only 17 or 18mm

I already have this ref and have others on the hit list for this year so won't be in the hunt.

The bracelet does look like it's been tampered with, but on the whole it looks like an honest, one owner watch.

I'd assume the seller has been to a watchmaker for the pics, otherwise it's extremely odd to find a 70 year old non-wis who has a caseback opener, case pad and spring bar tool. Might just be worth querying this with him, to ensure everything is as it seems.

Enough people are looking for this ref and will get excited by its condition and possible one owner status that it will either be ended before the scheduled finish date, or be well bid in the final few seconds.

I believe both the #6 and #506 end link were 19mm sized.
