Hi folks, I was wondering if this has been discussed before? I am about to own a pretty rare transitional 145.022 with a 321 movement (28 mil serial) with a case back that states 145.022-69 and complete with a 1039 dated 69 as well. The dial is applied metal with T dial and DON bezel and with the "flat feet" Omega logo on crown. All in all, watch looks to me legit and unmolested. I remembered seeing a couple of 145.022 with 321 movement which I thought Omega was trying to deplete their supply of the 321 before using the 861. Any thoughts on this? Or photos will be welcome. Thank you and apologies for the lack of photos at the moment.
I may be wrong, but I thought that transitionals had an 861 movement, I have heard about 321 movements being used up while moving over to 861s, but I would have thought they would be in a 68 case and have a 68 serial number rather than 69 I'm sure some of the experts will be able to let you know whether or not the watch is correct - Is it the the watch that was on ebay in South Africa? Any pics Cheers Nick
I believe the caseback is not original to the watch. The last 321 movement Speedie is the 145.012-68. The 145.022-69 should have an 861 movement.
I completely agree with Gemini4, it's highly likely that the caseback is not original. I assume you don't have such a picture, but the reverse side of the dial should confirm whether this is a 321 dial (rather than an 861 transitional dial), in which case, it's orobable that just the caseback is incorrect.
Me three. 28xxx is too high for a 321 movement. I think a closer inspection will show that the movement number is 26xxxx. Sometime hard to see the difference, especially in a picture. FYI, the last 321 movements in the 145.012-68 were 26553xxx ish THe first 861 movements in the 145.022-68 were 26557xxx ish.
Ah shucks! Yes just noticed it's a 26 mil not a 28. So you guys are right. The case back is replaced and should be a 145.012 Now.... Where do I find a 145.012 case back.
Guess parenthood (I just got a newborn baby) makes me tired and impaired my decision making and due diligence. Shucks.
Most 145.012 are 1967. 2607xxxx is a 145.012-67 and these casebacks are available from time to time on eBay. A 145.012-68 is much rarer although I recall one sold on eBay for $500 earlier this year.
