Sounds like a sales post.

Why haven’t you appreciated it by putting it on your wrist?

Sounds like your turning green. I wear this every day. It's not for sale. It's my pride and joy. Just a fine reference

ebay is full of lies about this watch […] Omega is well renowned for being a secret society

Jokes aside, I really have no idea what “lies” you’re referring to.

The Speedmaster mkii is a fun watch and does have its fans, albeit in much smaller numbers compared to the original. I prefer the racing variant, but you might find the reason why to be blasphemous ::stirthepot:: 😉

I'm confused about the hands. They do not appear to use tritium -- is that the case?

Were the smudges on the dial near the 11 and 5 markers there before the service at Omega?

Nice watch! Maybe Omega didn't polish the case, but the case has definitely been refinished at some point.

Not sure. The hands are new period correct. The smudge is dust on the lens.

When I bought this 20 years ago, (out of a collection in Beverley Hills)it was all about the case. To the best of my knowledge it has only been cleaned and loved. If you had this in your hands you would see the beautiful case patina. Harsh light does not do it justce. I use this pic as a reference especially for edges. She has just just been serviced and cleaned.

Sure looks like a factory refinished case to me, a nice job too. The caseback in particular shows signs of polishing with softening around the slots. FYI if your hands were truly 'Time Period Correct' ie tritium, they would have zero glow (there have been over 4 half lives elapsed since 1970). Omega haven't fitted tritium hands since the late 1990s. The reason they glow is that they use modern Superluminova.

I love a Mk11. Just recently rebuilt this one, movement service and hands repainted and lumed to match the dial lume. Think they are cracking watches and great value.
