Specific question: KM6292 case and KM6068 case

Very specific question but.. would a watch that belonged in a KM6068 case fit in a KM6292 case? I have a watch that belonged in a KM6068 case but seems like it’s really hard to source one. I see a KM6292 case on eBay that seems like it would fit but would love a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

You're looking to replace the case for your SMDV, correct?

What metal are you looking for, and which country are you in? Canada? Location will play a factor in what's available, and there are various reference numbers for various local versions, in addition to the Swiss cases.

Do you have a 550 series movement?

Why not post some pics of what you're working with?

Yes, it's a SMDV. Hopefully gold/gold filled, but the original case was a two-tone so it was actually a SS.
Here are some photos of the case and movement. It's a cal 563.
I'm in the US.

Have you enquired as to whether it's a candidate for laser welding?

Search for "Seamaster De Ville 563" to find more case references.

These should work with a 550 series, though they may not all be correct for a movement with a date.

166.020 (Swiss made)

LL6590 (US / Ross made)

KM6610 (Canada? / Ross made)

KM6292 (may be the same as LL6287)

Assume bezels and crystals are model specific and likely not interchangeable.

I have, the cost was a bit high and the turnaround time wasn't ideal so I was looking at plan b.

I will look into those reference number you provided. Thank you!

Hello. I picked up a KM6292 case but it doesn't have a case tube like the previous one.
Anyone know the case tube reference number for the specific case?

It approximately measures:
-1.5mm/case
-2.00mm/crown
-2.00/crown shoulder length
-5.00/total length

Am I out of luck?
If so, I might just sell everything for parts. I was hoping I could give this a second life but I'm still a beginner and lots of things to learn.

You might want to make friends with one of the watchmakers here, and convince them you have a vision. I'm not a watchmaker, but I'll help as best I can.

Usually, the Jules Borel parts database is very helpful. Go to http://www.julesborel.com/products/watch-parts and launch the Watch Parts Database from the link in the upper right corner. Search in the format OME CS#KM6292 . No useful results for case tubes.

Next try Cousins UK. Go to https://www.cousinsuk.com/category/filter/omega-case-parts and search 6292, select this model, select Case Tube, then Search All under color. Click Search for Items. Cousins gives part number 090ST0099 but won't sell to you, Restricted Item. They do give a part number though, which you can use to search eBay and whatnot.

There's one of these on eBay now. Again, I'm not a watchmaker, I've made mistakes with part numbers in the past, take this with a grain of salt. Ultimately, you'll want to consult a watchmaker.

This is really helpful.

I did try Jules Borel originally but also had no results. Just found out about Cousins.
I might pull the trigger on the eBay parts as I already have bought a case for it that is just sitting on my desk.

If there are any watchmakers reading this, if you could kindly guide me to the right direction that would be super helpful.
According to Cousins, the original casing I had for it has the part number 090ST1270 for the pendant tube, and the new case requires the part number 090ST0099. The movement does fit in the case (not as perfect as the original case, but does fit) but without the pendant tube, the crown wobbles around. Would purchasing the part number 090ST1270 solve this issue?

Again, thanks so much.

Do you know how I can order them if they are a restricted item?

A little update on my end.

I've sent the broken case to Peter Wuischpard so I know I'll have the fixed watch case in a couple months which is a huge ease of mind. As for my replacement case, I'm going to call a local watchmaker tomorrow and hopefully he can help me order the case tube from Omega. That way if I sell this watch case, it will be complete for the next owner at least.

Thanks again @sleepyastronaut and @Archer for helping me out!
I will post the outcome once the watch is back to life.
