Hi I have recently acquired this Speedmaster Mark IV with a case where the entire movement/glass is removable... I showed it to my watchmaker and he told me it was a special case that existed and that there is of course of joint that comes to hold everything together. I was wondering if you ever saw such a thing ? As usual pictures are always better than words...
I don't know anything about it but it's a very handsome looking watch/lume and is that the original strap?
Original Strap indeed sir You are right, 73 or 74... the guarantee paper says it has been bought on the 25th of September 1974 I found this one in France and indeed the patina is gorgeous !
Quite a common case design for Lemania 1341 movement watches and Speedmaster 1040/1045 There should be a seal/gasket that makes it near impossible to push out.
The Swiss patent is stamped on these casebacks, "BREVET 508925", you can see the application here: https://worldwide.espacenet.com/pub...&DB=&locale=en_EP&CC=GB&NR=1286120A&KC=A&ND=1 Per Omega's Speedmaster 60th Anniversary online presentation "The double-case design was created for added protection and easier servicing". https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/60th-anniversary-speedmaster/speedmaster-125-1973
