Hello, View attachment 394656 View attachment 394657 I found this beautiful watch in my father's collection, but the watch is not working, also when I tried to adjust the time the crown came out. I have two questions. - Is this a common problem ? - what model of speadmaster is this ? Thanks.
The model name is on the dial, as is the proper spelling. I would take it to a qualified watchmaker to have it checked out. Where are you located?
Nice watch from your dad. I would suggest a service immediately and don't try to wind it in its current state. Any other awesome watches from your dad?
Well good news bad news... Good news, the watch is pretty valuable a model 145.012 or 105.012 made somewhere between 1963 and 1969. Minimum the watch is $3000 after being serviced and could go a bit more up to maybe $8,000 usd. It depends on the full model and year and a bunch of other little tiny details. The outer bezel alone is worth a few thousand. DO NOT wind it anymore. BAd news the dial is a bit worn but still somewhat attractive. The watch needs a full service, and you need to keep the original hands and dial as they are what make the watch valuable. If you can tell us where you live perhaps someone can point you towards a good person to service it for you.
Learned a lesson, but instead of "the hard way", it turned out good! Bought a Speedy from original owner, but from his pictures I didn't notice it was a CB. Nice surprise when it arrived! (Ashamed to admit, but a friend examined seller's pictures better than I did and pointed out it was a CB)
