Yeah, that’s a bit steep. There was a nice one here that recently sold for about 1200 usd, and it was serviced.
I agree and I'll definitely get one from here next year.
Spent my budget on other cool pieces that definitely were nice deals instead!

·I don't understand what happened in that auction, maybe there was some funny business. They routinely sell on YJ for substantially less than that, and it's pretty easy to find them in good condition. It's such a common reference, I would imagine there are auctions ending every single day. The condition of that one was above average IMO, but not excellent, because of the case-back. Also, keep in mind that if you are in the US, buying on YJ through a proxy bidder is risky business. No returns under any circumstances, even blatant fraud. So factor some risk into the price you're willing to pay.

It did smell fishy.
But I am not surprised either, YJ has the best but also the most scammy auctions.
Do you guys have a "whitelist" of vendors there ?
EDIT: I definitely factor in the risk. The proxy I am using does not have any after sale service but does pack as you would expect. And as EU citizen we do have tons of taxes and taxes on top of taxes.
But I am pretty used to it, and so far touching wood

·There are many good-condition 168.024 chronometer SMs on YJ that I would buy before this one for around $1.2K. I think it’s not unlikely the OP watch is redialed and without an original crown I can’t see any reason to pay a premium for it. $1.7K is a super-clean, original crown price for the 165.010/166.010/168.024 family, in my opinion. You might as well get it from a dealer for a little extra plus peace of mind.

The description on the most recent one mentions a cyclop dome as opposed to the first listing.
Perhaps he's still delivering the watch but the pics aren't matching any 😕
