SOS Omega Genève 380€

Hi guys, I am a new collector and I need your help. I have found an omega Genève that I fancy but I don’t know if the watch is up to standards and if the asking price is reasonable. It’s caliber is 601 and the ref number 135 070. The woman that sells it says that everything is original but she doesn’t have its box and papers. I just think that something is sketchy because she offers a lot of watches in her Facebook account. I will upload as many pictures as I can for you to review. Please feel free to tell me if you like it and if I should buy it.

It looks fine. If I were you, I’d offer €300 and see where you end up.
You’ll have to get it serviced for around €100 and buy a new strap but the case and dial look generally okay and the 601 calibre movement is supposed to be extremely reliable and easy to service.

Not a bad piece price is around what I’d expect but as suggested try getting it closer to 300 euro. Movement isn’t the cleanest I’ve seen so I’d definitely get it serviced.

The watch is correct, but the gold plating has worn/been polished away at the end of the lugs which is something that has a big impact on value. I have a hard time seeing €300-380 in this.

Thank you guys! I’ll take your advice under consideration. So the majority of you believe that it is a fair purchase? Btw I was planning to buy a new strap from Jean Rousseau. Do you believe that it is a good purchase and do the use real animal leather?

I‘d like to second the comment of @ConElPueblo - I don’t really see 300-380€ here, either. With only a bit of patience, as it’s a very common ref, you’ll find a much nicer example on eBay for roughly the same price. And even if the seller agrees to 300€, ask yourself if you’d rather have this one with a very visibly worn case or an example in good nick that’s ~50€ more expensive.

By any chance do you know any current sellers to propose on eBay or somewhere else?

Where is it stamped "OMEGA"?
Yes exactly...
Do you call all leather straps aftermarket?

aftermarket would be a fake omega strap and this one doesnt even say omega... as you just quoted 😀

So the strap is the one that came with the watch when it was new or not?

The leather strap is not Omega leather,
Its just a regular strap 😀

Aftermarket does not in any way mean that is should be (unlawfully) branded.

Yes, leather straps purchased after the initial purchase are typically aftermarket.

Last year I bought a pair of gas struts to replace the original ones in my Mercedes stationwagon. They were unbranded, aftermarket struts. Had they been branded "Mercedes" and produced by MB's OEM strut manufacturer, they would have been OEM replacements. Had they been marked "Mercedes" and made by a different company they would have been fake.

You could use BestFit watch parts to make the same example when taking watches 😀

Do you need it right now?
Does it have to be exactly this model?
If it has to be right now, do you intend to wear it immediately?

I would like to have something that I’ll be able to wear now. I am open to recommendations. I just want something similar in gold that I’ll be able to wear with my suit.
