Hi, most of the watches I own are modern, the only vintage ones I've had up until now have been my grandfather and great grandfather watches which I don't use. Recently, my friend wanted to let go his 145.012 so I decided to get it from him.

My question is, do I need to baby this Speedy or I can use it in a manner similar to a modern Speedy?

It's been serviced regularly and the last time was one or two years ago.

    Thanks for any advice.

Some says wear the hell out of it but avoid any damage to the DON bezel. It cost a huge fortune nowadays.

    Let's see pictures!

These watches are pretty sturdy and with regular service go as long as you will.

That being said don't swim with one even if it has just been serviced. I'd also not use it in high impact or high vibration. Golf, tennis, motorcycle etc.

145.012 values are going up and the correct bezel is worth a few grand depending on condition.

Thanks guys, I'll wear it like it's not a 50 year old watch then. My friend has changed the parts along the way and has kept the originals that he passed to me (including the DON bezel). I might put them back on the watch eventually. I'm getting the screw in the bridge on the movement changed to the correct one. It also comes with the original bracelet that I'm getting restored by Michael in Hong Kong. Here are some pics. IMG_6979.JPG

If he had all the original parts, that is a friend I would like to have.

Wow correct dial too in what appears to be stunning condition.

Thanks, the dial seems ok. That's why I couldn't pass up the opportunity when he said he wanted to sell. I'm going to enjoy this watch as much as possible.

In my opinion watches are to be worn - it just depends how much.
Hugely valuable rare and vintage need a little more care and 'spatial awareness' to avoid impact damage and scratching.
Other than that - wear and enjoy.

Lovely watch mate. Wear it but look after it as best you can. You say it has been serviced, but if it still has the original crown and pushers the level of water resistance may not be 100%. You have to protect that lovely 321 movement so don't let it get wet.;)
