Sort of a physics question for those who wear eyeglasses with nose pads:

There’s some impressive knowledge on this Forum, so I thought I’d try you on this oddball question : I have a pair of glasses similar to the pair below, with separate, adjustable nose pads:

I have the pads adjusted so I believe they’re sitting symmetrically on the nose. Yet one side of my nose bridge is constantly getting irritated. So here’s the question: based on the physics of how glasses sit on the face, to alleviate or lessen pressure to the nose bridge on one particular pad, would you bend it in, or out? I’d like to have a sense of this before attempting a change. Thanks for any insights.

On the side that gets irritated, bend it out slightly.
While 99.9% of specs are made for the ideal skull/face model, few humans match that perfect ideal.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, do as we always say to noobies asking watch questions, take it to an optician.

I broke my nose in my teens and the nose pads on my glasses have been quite asymetrical ever since. I adjust them myself because too much pressure on the deviated side is uncomfortable. Don't forget that you can also adjust the ear pieces to level your specs. Bending an ear piece (or the entire arm) down raises that side, so if one side drops after you widen the nose pad, consider bending the ear piece to lift it.

The range of topics discussed on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

I’m waiting for a debate on coconuts being migratory, or not.

It was for this reason I moved to frames without nose pads. I could never get them to stay comfortable. Thankfully, I have a good nasal bridge for pad-less ‘keyhole bridges’.

By the way, be really careful with the metal pad connections; even with precision jewelers pliers, you can only adjust them so many times.

Well that really depends on the symbiotic relationship between coconuts and swallows, a well discussed subject, see here

https://www.syfy.com/syfy-wire/mont...-grail-swallows-coconuts-rabbits-black-knight

Unfortunately the article doesn't do a drill down on spectacle wearing Swallows but does go into other complex physics questions that may well help the OP in his quest to better understand his problem.
Personally I would search for publications such as "Zen and the Art of Spectacle Maintenance" and " How to Wear Spectacles and Influence People"

…How to Wear Spectacles and Influence People"

I suppose it’s a matter of seeing the glasses half empty or not.

Not me, I’m waiting for the glasses mowing/blowing/diving debate to kick off.

in all seriousness.....check your ears. Kind of like deployant placement/ 12side vs 6 side links on a bracelet affecting how comfortably your watch sits on your wrist

(sorry to be serious....there is a joke somewhere rattling around my head about someone going blind after their ears were cut off....hat fell down over his eyes)

Let's not be silly about this, Bob has asked a serious question and deserves serious answers.

I also had a question about eyewear.

I find washing the car in sunshine gives me a lot of glare.

Should I wear my Persol 604s?

Or my Arnette "Corner Man" sunnies?

I find my Ray Ban Eclipses to be the best.

But Jim, it would be silly to wash the car in sunshine. Wait for cloud cover, fairly common in Australia isn’t it?

Incidentally, is there a recommendation anywhere on the forum for which watch to wear with which sunglasses?
(Thread drift, ahoy)

Contacts are old school. You need laser surgery.

I use lighter glasses. No irritations.
yup....nothing since I switched to titanium frames with high index lenses....and real coffee instead of emoji!

Could also go the bridge piercing route, they make lenses that attach to them now.

Well that is certainly… progressive. That’s a new one on me. I’d stick with the laser surgery.
