Find it?

I bought it.

A few years back I picked up this woebegone Zodiac off of Ebay with a dial that looks like someone threw up on it for something like $15. I like Zodiac for some reason. Already have four of them and felt that this one needed a berth in the Home For Wayward Watches.

Runs great and keeps good time. Pretty low on the servicing list so I haven't worn it much.

“One of the clicker knobs below the crown came loose, condensation got in, and now the dirt has dusted the white face of the watch after it dried out. The watch tech at the jewelry store I worked at said he could open, clean, and polish the white face and sapphires back to like new shine, but I would never have anyone besides Omega to open the watch for authenticity purposes! Just needs some TLC from a watchmaker or horologist!”

Yep just needs some TLC 😁 $2600

Described as "Good Vintage Condition". I'd had to see bad vintage condition. Only $150! LMAO!

Slighly OT but I just saw this one in the latest 'talking watches' at Hodinkee, described as "remarkably honest" 😜:

291A8556.jpg

"It was worn by a British-born, French-speaking former Green Beret who took the watch on several JANUS trials - a series of experimental, open-sea, very deep dives in conjunction with COMEX and French navy. These worn watches are "holy grails" to dive collectors and it took years for Reza to find one in honest condition. His is remarkably honest and the warmth and vibes of this particular watch are really incredible. "

WTF? Rusty = honest?

I like it.
Owning it from new and wearing it like this is cool. But buying a watch that probably didn’t work and servicing it and leaving it looking like above for the story is a bit cheesy in my book.

honest in the sense that so many vintage rolex have been doctored.

from the bezel inlay to the dial...the fraud out there is of epidemic proportions
