Just tell me I'm not being silly, am I? This has to be a re-dial, right?

Case ref 2514. Everything else checks out.

As I thought, thanks Mike. What a pity - this has the original box, papers, and chronometer certificate. And a really nice 343 RG movement. And he's asking £2,745 GBP - roughly $4,120 USD.

Yes, it is a real downer because this case ref 2514 is quite scarce, with only 5,000 pieces in total. So it's very similar to and the same period as a Centenary, as far as I can see - others will doubtless fill in the historical background. I just kept looking at the listing and thinking how could anybody do that? How bad could the dial have been? And if you were forced to refinish it, why not do a better job?
