Sometimes, just the right bracelet or band perfectly offsets the watch and enhances the total. Other times, the bracelet or band overwhelms the watch or clashes with it. The right bracelet can be worth the hunt.

I got this beautiful watch, a modern Speedmaster with an Italian military face and hands from a fellow OF participant. It came on a black rubber strap, accompanied by a brand new Omega bracelet.

Not bad color wise but the rubber did not agree with me. So, next was a reddish brown alligator band.

I liked this a lot, but I wanted a tool look, not a ‘precious vintage watch’. So, on to the Omega bracelet

I felt like this Omega band just overwhelmed the watch face. I think this cream face with black detail can disappear in a way that black Speedmaster faces don’t.

So, I got out an extra S/S sharkskin Omega band and put it on. Low and behold:

Somehow, the detail in the bracelet complements the face’s fine detail.

Other examples of the right or wrong bracelet?

Wow, love the last bracelet. It really makes the white dial sing :)

I absolutely agree. I ordered an Omega black cordura strap with white stitching from the Silver Snoopy to go with my Speedmaster white Italian dial mod, and it certainly doesn't look as good on bracelet to my eye.

It looks great on mesh. I have that same Omega shark mesh still sealed in the package, which I'm unwilling to open since I already opened another Omega mesh that's on my SM300. SO I'm thinking about using one of my Strapcode mesh bracelet's until my strap arrives in a couple of weeks.

Here some shots of mine, and then what it will look like when the new strap arrives.

Also, I have the Alaska Project hour/min hands on the watch right now, but I have several pair of all black hands with lume, instead of half white/black - I might swap those in at some point since the white portions of the hands are a little brighter white than the creme colored dial. (Actually 2 pair all black with silver hubs [see bottom photo], and 1 pair all black including the center hub that go on a Snoopy).

I like that red hand a lot. Mine’s arrived but I haven’t put it on yet. I also have a blue Gemini 4 bezel that I think I’ll try out on the watch. I’m hoping to pick up a faint dark, dark blue in the hands and printing on the face. We’ll see. It could prove to be too busy.

When I’ve got it done, I’ll post it.

@airansun good choice of strap! For another watch, your croc strap would look stunning. Which brand is it? Thanks.

Hadley Roma custom, ordered five straps at a time, thru a local watch shop.
