Prior to me picking it up, the below waffle dial Seamaster went through a couple rounds of 7-day listings on eBay. I saw it the first time, posted at $425, at which time I started messaging back and forth with the seller. While I came to the conclusion that the seller was legit and just not knowledgeable on watches, I had a really tough time getting decent photos. Decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Item ended with no bidders. Posting photos: A bit later, listed at $400, continued with the back and forth and got more photos. I came to the conclusion, based on the multitude of photos received (counted 24 across all messages), that the dial was most likely original and clean. Also got a much better look at the case condition. Decided to make an offer. We couldn’t agree so decided that he’d let it run to see if anyone bids, and if not, he’d re-post at $400 with a best offer option. Ended up getting it for my original offer price. Both of us were happy. Some additional photos received: Well, after getting it in the mail and using a ton of polywatch, she’s a real beauty. Movement is clean, aside from some discoloration on part of the rotor (what is that?). The only issues I see are that I believe the hands were replaced given the lume is darker than on the dial (or black inserts/paint?) and some of the radium is gone from the dial. All in all, I’m very happy.
