A classic, without having to check if it works, has been franked, and with no scratches for $199. I’m almost tempted!

    34mm

I would choose a vintage watch over this each and every time, but there is something to be said for a nice looking, mechanical watch with a warranty.

The reissue looks great. Anyone know what movement Timex have used?
Here's my 1963 Marlin for comparison:

And 15% off! Like @ConElPueblo I would generally prefer a real vintage watch but having said that I have a couple of near contemporary watches, one bought new, that I like to wear for the "worry-free" experience. I would hate to damage even one of my bargain vintage watches.

Take this $100 Bulova for example - I would cry if I messed it up:

This Hamilton Khaki? I wouldn't even break stride...

$100 vintage watches is where it is at :D

Tonight I am, with the assistance of a helpfull OF'er, bidding on a gorgeous watch that'll hopefully end at around $110-150... A service will double its price, but I look forward to (hopefully!) getting it :)

Probably Chinese, like a Seagull or similar.

It would have been great if they had revived one of their vintage movements but I guess it wouldn't be economical

Put this movement into a watch like their recent "military watch" reissues and I'll leave fiery tracks on the ground between my home and the nearest Timex AD, 'Back to the Future' style

I think I read that the Seagull is indeed what they're using for this.

It would be great if they could find a way to assemble their mechanical movements in the US, but as far as costs are concerned, it's probably not going to happen ...

If the Marlin sells well Timex may be tempted to introduce some more mechanical watches

I'm impressed that Timex has been brave enough to introduce a reissue in the original 34mm case size unlike many other manufacturers

Bought the Tod Snyder military reissue for the gym and chores. Before I did that I read up on Timex. This is no hollow brand on life support company. They are going strong and I'd not be surprised to see a bigger line of mechanical watches in the future. They seem to do their production in their Philippine Factory.

Well, an advantage of new watches is that they are readily available. Just lost the auction for that cheap watch I mentioned. Am already going through the "why the Hell didn't I bid higher?!?" phase ::rant:

Most were not made in the US back in the old days anyway. The mechanical ones were designed to simply have the movement swapped out if it ever broke. This new one looks like more of a traditional, serviceable, manual-wind movement.

I gotta say, when I read that it was going to be 34mm I couldn't believe it. This is really driven towards a core vintage market and it's kind of exciting to see if other brands continue the trend.
